Halloween Cookies

It was a busy Halloween this year with lots of cookies on the agenda.  Here are some of my favourite pictures of the day and the week leading up to it.

These spider cookies give many people suffering from Arachnophobia the creeps, but they are very popular!

These cute ghosts are extra yummy with the crunch of sanding sugar.

I loved these sparkly pumpkins in a variety of pumpkin colours.

Jack-o-lanterns, a Halloween must.

I loved these fun bats.

Re-purposing a gingerbread boy cookie cutter for these mummies was fun!

Barbapapa Cookies

I have a special love for Barbapapa!  A series of children's books created in the 1970's, they gained a broader audience with their 5 minute long shows that I enjoyed as a child.  Barbapapa is both the name of the father character and the species.

The family consists of Barbapapa, Barbamama, Barbazoo (who loves animals), Barbalala (who loves music), Barbalib (who loves to read), Barbabeau (the hairy one), Barbabelle (who loves being beautiful), Barbabright (the scientist) and Barbabravo (the strong one).  Barbapapas have the ability to shapeshift at will; becoming musical instruments or exercise equipment or gardening tools with ease, accompanied by the fun phrase "Clickity-Click, Barba-Trick!"   In addition to the show being fun and positive, there was always an environmental message that I liked.  Today it is hard (if not impossible) to find English language episodes online, although a few years ago we did find them and watched them with joy, but if you want a sneak peak and the theme song (even though this one is in French), click here.

Clubhouse Cookies

Our friend was moving from a waterfront property to a condo and the night before the movers came, the swim/bike/run friends we all share got together for one last hurrah at her house.  We did a little bit of swimming and whole lot of eating and talking!

We had casually discussed pooling our money together to buy her house as a "clubhouse", so that's the theme I used for these cookies, which I brought on a tray of oatmeal milk chocolate chip cookies.

Emoticon Cookies

A new season of music has begun at Piano Music Studio and the students are happy to be back under the tutelage of Zuzana.  This year, Zuzana requested something "fun" for the kids, not the usual musical themed cookies to celebrate the new school year.  Looking forward to another year of beautiful music!

Ironman Swim Bike Run Cookies

One of my awesome and inspiring friends, Jason, was celebrating his birthday and I decided to make him some cookies, because he likes them (a lot).  The perfect theme for his cookies was Ironman to celebrate his recent achievement in Muskoka, his second time completing the Ironman competition!

These swim cookies are funny, because Jason never wears a swim cap, although they do give you one for each race you enter.  He told me once he rips his off immediately after hitting the water and would claim he "lost it" if he was questioned about it.

Jason loves his bike.  He has tried to convince me I will like cycling too.  Unfortunately, he didn't convince me and my bike was recently sold to someone who is loving it.  I'll stick to the pool.

It is hard to believe someone could run a marathon (42.2 kilometers) after a massive swim (3.86 kilometers) and a crazy long bike ride (180.25 kilometers), but Jason did it, two years in a row!  Happy birthday my friend!

Toronto Blue Jays Cookies

It's an exciting time here in the Toronto area as we enjoy our Toronto Blue Jays' baseball season!  These cookies were a gift from one of our town's councillors for his fellow councillors, just a small symbol of unity between friends.
