Circus Themed Cookies and Cake
Working with Tobi of Tobi Goldspink Cakes is always great. She is such a professional and always creates the most beautiful cakes. This time we worked together to create a cake and matching cookies for our client Elly. We were giving lots of creative license, but Elly did have a colour scheme in mind that we were thrilled to use because it was so beautiful!
While Tobi and I met in person (over lunch) to discuss the design and colour scheme, we still worked independently in our own business kitchens on the cake and cookies. It wasn't until we brought the elements together to photograph that we realized we had created something fabulous! Our client was thrilled!

Triathlon Cookies
It has become a tradition for me to host a brunch with my triathlon training friends. This year we started the day with a mini winter triathlon that included swimming in the pool, spinning on spin bikes and running on the track at the Bradford Leisure Centre. It was a lot of fun and after our event we started by handing out Sweet Handmade Cookie Medals to the winners.
Then we gathered back at my place for some food and socializing. Each year I create a set of triathlon cookies to enjoy and this year was no exception. Luckily the entire group has a great sense of humour so I could add some "triathlon fail" cookies!
Luckily there were enough cookies for my friends to bring home to their children and here is one super adorable picture of a future triathlete enjoying his!

Splash Cookies for Swimmers
Those of you who follow my life might know that I only learned to swim about two years ago. I am part of a triathlon training program and we meet twice a week at 6 am for swim workouts (and two more times a week at 6 am for spinning and running). A few weeks ago our swim instructor decided to mix things up and instead of getting into the pool at the shallow end, where we tend to hang out and chat in between lengths, she decided we would now start in the deep end - she is a slave-driver!! When I walked onto the pool deck that morning and saw what our instructor had up her sleeve I almost had a panic attack. I had no idea how I would get into the deep end without looking like a fool! I watched as my fellow team members dived or jumped in and I just waited until everyone started swimming and then I slowly lowered myself in along the wall. What a wimp I was! I told myself I would have to learn how to jump in and one morning I announced out loud that I would be doing it that day.
So I stood at the side of the pool and fought the panic as it threatened to send me into a full blown panic attack. All my optimistic team-mates left to get on with their day and I was still standing there. The swim instructor left and I was still standing there. Twenty-five minutes later it was just me and one encouraging lifeguard left on the pool deck. I looked at the time and realized I had 5 minutes left before I would be kicked out and I thought it was now or never. So with a few more encouraging words from lifeguard Jaclyn, I went for it. It wasn't horrible, in fact, it was fun. I got out and did it again. And again and again! I hugged Jaclyn and went home and announced my success to my teammates on facebook! I was so proud of myself. So about a week later I decided to try diving and did it too!!
Today I thanked my teammates for all of their encouragement with cookies - splash cookies!! There is something so special about our group, so many happy and encouraging friends to meet with multiple times a week. Our instructor got the role of "cookie pimp", handing out the cookies to each team member as they were leaving and she was as good at that as she is at kicking our butts in the pool!

ALS Ice Bucket Challenge Cookies
I was nominated for the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge by my friend Shari. My children were happy to help pour ice water over my head (I think I heard "highlight of the month" uttered by one of them) and I must admit today was the perfect day to do it, as it was soooo hot! I made these cookies and used them as incentive to inspire others to donate. The prize was grabbed up in about 30 seconds!

My character cookies this week will be Elmo and Cookie Monster! And, now that Germany has secured their spot in the World Cup this weekend and we just have to wait to find out if they will be facing Argentina or Holland (Hup Holland!), I will let you know I will have flag and soccer ball cookies available to make your World Cup watching festivities more fun! See you on Saturday!

Beautiful Decorated Cookies
One of the best parts of my chosen profession is the wonderful people I get to meet and getting to be a little part of some great celebrations. Since meeting Deb I have done a number of cookie orders for her and recently she asked if I could create something special for her group of friends that get together monthly for dinner. Their get-togethers started when their kids played hockey together and the friendships have lasted and lasted. They call themselves the Hockey Moms Organization and this time together would be their 100th! I was so impressed with these strong friend bonds that I was thrilled to create these cookies for her.

Throwback Thursday - Cruise Ship Cookies
Throwback Thursday! This great set was made last year for the first time, but has been made many, many times since. I've made them for people to eat during departure (instead of partaking in a celebratory drink), I've made them for people to surprise/tell their kids about their upcoming vacation and I've made them as thank you gifts. I still love them as much as I did the first time I made them!

Celebrating with Hockey Jersey Cookies
Yesterday was pretty special all across Canada. I am not sure the whole country has ever woken up at 7am on a Sunday, but we all did because Canada was playing for gold medal in men's hockey at the Sochi Olympics. Our team did not disappoint, they dominated the entire game and came away with that beautiful gold. I like to think my Olympic Hockey Jersey cookies brought the team luck! One of my customers sent me this picture of her family enjoying their cookies as they watched and cheered on the game. I love these pictures!!
