Bridal Shower Cake and Cupcakes

Jan was put in charge of her niece's bridal shower cake.  She knew she wanted something feminine, with a purple colour palate and something that would be easy for the guests to enjoy in the casual atmosphere of the bridal shower.  I suggested that a cutting cake might add a nice touch, so, we settled on a small cake and cupcakes, with a custom stand to match.  The flavours are chocolate butter cake and white butter cake (alternating layers in the cake) with Swiss meringue buttercream and various shades and sizes of purple gum paste flowers and leaves.

Wishing Jan's niece and her husband-to-be wonderful life filled with happiness.

  1. Love your cake and stand. Would love to know how you made your stand, sizes of cake plates and dividers.

  2. Hello Anonymous:

I created this more than 4 years ago and while it has been years since I have made cakes, I do remember this stand. I created it using styrofoam cake dummies and cake boards. I wrapped them in ribbon and stacked them. It worked well and the wideness of the cake dummies make it sturdy. Unfortunately, one smear of icing and the ribbon is ruined, so they are not very reusable, unless you redo the ribbon each time.

  5. My pleasure. Just reread this post. The couple I made this cake/cupcakes for are now happily married parents of twins. Many cookies for them since then!
