Shabby Chic Cake

Please note - I no longer accept cake orders, focusing instead on custom decorated sugar cookies.

Ali is a giver.  I sensed that the minute I met her last year at our planning meeting for her mother's 50th birthday/Mickey Mouse themed party last year.  A detail-oriented organizer, she threw her mother a terrific party, complete with a pretty nice Mickey cake.  (http://www.sweethandmade.blogspot.ca/2011/05/mickey-mouse-cake.html)  She is also a new aunt to twins and is very involved in their lives, despite the fact that these little boys live hours away.  She tends to do for everyone before she does something for herself, but hopefully she knows how important she is to her family and how much they all love her!  Her mom wanted a special cake for her birthday this year, in their favourite flavours - brown sugar marble for the cake and red velvet for the cupcakes.  She loves shabby chic style, so I used that as design style.  Happy birthday Ali!

I love the look of these large flowers and the pearl accents.

Bridal Shower Cake and Cupcakes

Jan was put in charge of her niece's bridal shower cake.  She knew she wanted something feminine, with a purple colour palate and something that would be easy for the guests to enjoy in the casual atmosphere of the bridal shower.  I suggested that a cutting cake might add a nice touch, so, we settled on a small cake and cupcakes, with a custom stand to match.  The flavours are chocolate butter cake and white butter cake (alternating layers in the cake) with Swiss meringue buttercream and various shades and sizes of purple gum paste flowers and leaves.

Wishing Jan's niece and her husband-to-be wonderful life filled with happiness.

Fairy Cupcake Tower

Here is the cupcake fairy topper that I created for Mikenna's 9th birthday party.  This cute fairy was sculpted out of gumpaste and was named Joyce by the birthday girl!  Joyce sits at the top of this beautiful pink themed cupcake tower, filled with mini chocolate and vanilla cupcakes each topped with a swirl of pink Swiss meringue buttercream and a gum paste flower.  Happy birthday Mikenna!

Snowflake Cupcakes

Welcome to Canada!  We were warned of blizzard-like conditions yesterday, and I decided the best way to deal with snowflakes is to make them yummy!  A delicious sour cream vanilla cupcake with a swirl of luscious Swiss meringue buttercream frosting, topped with a fondant snowflake and sugar dragees.  This is how to celebrate the winter season!

Happy Birthday Cupcake Tower

One of my best girlfriends lives in a house full of men. When her birthday came around, I figured she needed something pink! For ease of serving and match her casual lifestyle, I opted for a cupcake tower. Each Vanilla Cupcake was topped with a swirl of Raspberry Swiss Meringue Buttercream. A buttery Sugar Cookie frosted with Royal Icing in this darling pattern was put on top of each cupcake. Happy Birthday Shelley!

Handy Manny

With children growing so fast, you would think children's programming could stay the same forever, after all, there is always a new audience coming along.  But change they do, as illustrated by the show Handy Manny.  In my girl's time, it was Bob the Builder (he was the guy with the talking work-vehicles like Muck and Roley).  Now it is Handy Manny, he is a guy with talking tools like Stretch and Dusty.  And, a favourite of Doreen's nephew, who turned 2!  Happy birthday little man!

Star Cupcakes

With their blue stars and dark brown cupcake wrappers, I think these cupcakes have "little boy" written all over them!  And actually, most anyone would love to eat these!  My Yellow Cupcakes, a swirl of my Vanilla Bean Buttercream and topped with homemade fondant stars and a silver dragee.  So sweet!

Classic Wedding Cupcakes

There is just something special about having your very own (cup)cake to enjoy and savour.  These cupcakes show how they can be made and served elegant and sophisticated.  These beauties will wow your guests both when you serve them and when they taste them.  Here, a mix of vanilla and rich chocolate cupcakes, all topped with a lovely swirl of vanilla bean Swiss meringue buttercream are served with fresh fruit.
